Itinerary

Día 1Cusco – Chinchero – Moray – Salt Mines – Urubamba – Ollantaytambo – Pisaq – Cusco

🥾 Difficulty: Easy
⏱️ Duration: 12 – 13 hours
⛰️ Max Altitude: 3,762 m / 12,342 ft
🍽️ Meals: Buffet Lunch in Urubamba

We begin the tour with hotel pickup between 6:30 and 7:00 AM, depending on the location of your accommodation. From there, we head north, driving for 40 minutes to reach Chinchero, the highest point of the tour (3,762 m / 12,342 ft). There, we will explore its archaeological center and get an up-close look at the daily life of the local inhabitants, as well as their textile art and craftsmanship.

The next destination will be Moray, an Inca agricultural experimentation center designed as an immense natural greenhouse. This unique site, located in a geographical depression, will show us a different aspect of Inca engineering.

We will continue towards Maras and the Salt Mines, where you will find more than 3,000 salt pools ancestral-mined by the local population. It is a unique spectacle seen in few places around the world.

Then, we will make a stop in Urubamba, where you will have free time to enjoy a buffet lunch before continuing to Ollantaytambo, the largest town and known as the “Living Inca Town.” Here, you will interact with the locals who descend from the high communities to make their purchases.

Finally, we will visit Pisaq, an ancient Inca town with impressive agricultural terraces and ceremonial fountains, surrounded by the majesty of the mountains.

The return to Cusco is scheduled for approximately 7:00 PM. We will drop you off near the Plaza de Armas due to traffic congestion in the city center.
