The tour « Palcoyo coloured mountains and Q’eswachaka bridge» is the ideal option for tourists that do no have a lot of time and want to enjoy 2 activities around Cusco such as the famous coloured valley and the last Inca hanging bridge, an important vestige of the Quechua culture.
Unlike the famous Vinicunca colored mountain, Palcoyo coloured mountain do not require to walk for long distances and thus needs no time to get used to the altitude, even though the transportation will bring you to the same summit. It’s recommended for families and people looking for a place less saturated of tourists.
Moreover in Palcoyo, you will have the possibility to see the impressive Ausangate under the snow, from other angles, after a little stroll of half an hour til the view point. This tour requires a minimum of 2 participants when it’s booked.
In this trip you will admire amazing views of minimum 3 coloured mountains, even though in all the valley it’s possible to see 7 of them, when the weather allows it. Also for the trip, you will have the chance to see a lot of alpacas and lamas, really common in this part of Peru.

After a delicious meal, we will go in the direction of one of the last vestiges of the Inca civilization : The bridge Q’eswachaca which comes from “Q’eswa” (weaves) y “Chaka” (bridge). This bridge made of natural material (ichu or q’oya) had been classified in the UNESCO world heritage since the Quechua communities which live in the area represent one of the last alive traditions .
This bridge had been re-build every year by 5 local communities; The volunteers maintain the Inca tradition and the millennial engineering !
This impressive bridge is 33 meters long for 1,20 meters large and is situated 15 meters above the river.
The tour Palcoyo and Q’eswachaka starts around 5am with your transfer in a private transport from your hotel to the starting point. After a journey of around 3 hours, seeing alpacas and native communities on the way, we’ll arrive at our destination from where you will be able to admire the beautiful coloured mountains and the hole Palcoyo valley.
For anyone that want to enjoy with calm the views, one’s have to take a little walk of around 30 minutes to reach the view point from which the landscapes are amazing.
The view is worth the effort! You’ll be able to observe a minimum of 3 different mountains, plus the colured valley which surrounds the famous snowy Ausangate.
After a couple of hours, we’ll start to get down (around 45 minutes), direction Chuquicahuana for a delicious meal, but just before we’ll pass by a little Inca hanged bridge made of ropes, situated in the village of Checacupe.

After the meal, we’ll drive for approximately an hour and a half until the Inca bridge Q’eswachaca.
Thanks to the traditions and the strong will of 1000 people that participate in the annual bridge reconstruction, we can leave the books and experiment the live History of the Inca culture. Come to test the Inca engineering from the 11th century and dare to cross the bridge Q’eswachaka!
COMING BACK TO CUSCO
After this activity, we will drive back to Cusco for around 3 and a half hours. We will arrive around 7:30 p.m.
