The tour that goes to the rainbow montains or known for the places like the Cerro Colorado can be found in Vinicunca, Quispicanchis province, Cusco. These mountains have a natural coloration created because of the presence of sedimentary rocks in erosion and that can be found at 5000 m approximately.
The added value of this tour is the possibility to enjoy 2 pin attractions: The first one is the view of the imposing Ausangate covered with snow (The 5th highest mountain in Peru) and the second one is the possibility to share a walk with lamas, alpacas, sheeps, some birds and inhabitants of communities.
The tour starts when we’ll pick you up from your hotel around 3.30 am to go to the small community of Pitumarca from where we can buy water, drinks, solar cream…
Around 6.30 am, we will reach the Hanchipapa community where we will enjoy a tasty breakfast before starting the walk through colourful Andean landscapes.
The walk goes through Andean communities living subtracted from the modern world. On the hole way, you will breath the fresh air of the mountains.
This tour is also known as the “arco iris mountain” and permits to appreciate one of the most beautiful landscapes that Peru geography could offer. Which is the reason why “National Geographic” included it in its list of “100 places you should visit before dying”.
Around 11.00 am, we will reach the summit of Vinicunca montain from where we will be able to enjoy the famous view of the rainbow mountain. The different colourful lines which result the natural beauty of the region are the consequences of a mineral erosion. There, we canrelax, take pictures and videos to remember of and simply admire the amazing panorama of all the rainbow valley.
After a couple of hours, we will start the way back in direction of the Quesiuno community where we will have a meal and then return to Cusco where we will arrive around 7.00 pm.
