With the Chimoma tour we will enjoy the best landscapes of the Cusco region. We will visit the ancient terraces of Chinchero, the agricultural laboratory of Moray and the famous salt mines of Maras.
Private/personalized service that allows us to visit the ancient village of Chinchero and its famous textile workshops (if you do the tour on a Sunday you will enjoy its traditional market), then we will make a short bike ride on the way to the agricultural laboratory of Moray (circular platforms), while we enjoy some experiences with local people. And finally we will visit the famous salt mines in the town of Maras.
The Chimona tour starts very early, around 6 a.m. with the pick up of the passengers from their respective hotels.
Our first destination is Chinchero, where we will visit the ancient Inca terraces, a picturesque colonial church, and then we will have an interesting session in one of the textile handicraft workshops while enjoying a delicious muña tea. Optionally you can choose to enjoy a unique experience doing the zip line (+$30 USD) with a spectacular view of the Sacred Valley.
Then we will go in our private transportation to Moray to start the bike tour (double suspension). The objective is to reach the circular terraces of Moray through the impressive landscapes of the Vilcanota mountain range. Here we will spend some time to discover the true history of the Inca agricultural laboratory.
Then we will go to the small town of Maras, to enjoy the famous “chicha de Jora”, the most famous drink in the Peruvian Andes, a kind of corn beer, prepared in a natural way.
As the last part of the Chimoma tour we will visit one of the most beautiful and incredible salt mines in South America. We will walk and have the possibility to touch around 5,000 ponds and learn more about salt production. The salt from this place is still produced according to how it was made in the time of the Incas.
The Chimoma tour is a full day excursion, so we will return around 6:30 p.m. to the city of Cusco.
