Visiting the Nazca Lines from Lima as a day trip is an ambitious undertaking. Spanning over 450 kilometers (280 miles) along the Pan-American Highway South, executing this itinerary smoothly requires precision scheduling, pre-arranged aerodrome flight slots, and private ground transit.
Early departure in a private air-conditioned vehicle from your Lima hotel (Miraflores or San Isidro). Heading south along the Pan-American Highway avoids urban traffic, passing through Cañete and the Chincha valley as the sun rises over the Pacific coast.
Upon arrival at the airport, we complete passenger weigh-in, pay local airport taxes, clear security screening, and present original physical passports. Your guide reviews the flight map illustrating the 12 figures you will spot from the air.
Boarding a certified Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft (each passenger has their own window seat). The flight banks left and right over the Whale, Trapezoids, Astronaut, Monkey, Dog, Hummingbird, Condor, Spider, Heron, Parrot, Tree, and Hands, returning smoothly to the airstrip.
After flight recovery, we enjoy a traditional lunch in Nazca and visit the ancient stone Cantalloc Aqueducts, an engineering feat showing how the pre-Inca Nazca civilization brought subterranean water to their desert crops.
We head north toward Ica, stopping briefly at the Huacachina Oasis for photos before returning along the highway, arriving back at your hotel in Lima by 9:00 PM.
Fly over the enigmatic Nazca geoglyphs, cruise the Ballestas Islands, descend into the world’s deepest canyon, and explore the ancient Inca citadel on our 12-day Southern Route.
