The Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) reaches an altitude of 5,100 m (16,732 ft), and the campsite at Surinecocha is located at 4,800 m (15,748 ft). Due to this extreme altitude, it is essential to have rested and acclimatized in the city of Cusco (3,400 m) for at least 2 days before starting this trek. During the walk, we recommend keeping a slow and steady pace, drinking plenty of water, and sipping coca leaf tea.
We will spend the night at our private campsite in Surinecocha at 4,800 m (15,748 ft). To guarantee a comfortable night against the low temperatures, we provide high-quality mountain tents (professional double-roof brands) and insulating sleeping pads. We also have a cozy dining tent, a kitchen tent, and specialized kitchen staff preparing hot dinners and breakfasts.
Yes, the entrance to the Saint Peter Apostle Church of Andahuaylillas is fully included in the price of this tour. It is world-famous as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas” due to the richness of its baroque mural art, its gold-leaf decorated ceilings, and its beautiful colonial paintings of the Cusco School. It is a premier cultural stop on our return trip.
