Below are important details of the 2-day Inca Trail tour
The Inca Trail has a strict limit of 500 daily permits regulated by the Peruvian government (which includes guides and porters, leaving only about 200 real spaces for tourists per day). Therefore, you must book your permit 4 to 6 months in advance, especially for the high season (May to August). Once the permit is issued by the Ministry of Culture, it is non-transferable and non-refundable.
The Inca Trail operates from March to January. The entire Inca Trail is closed obligatorily during the month of February by government decree for intense maintenance, conservation, and reforestation. If you travel in February, we highly recommend spectacular alternatives like the Salkantay Trek or the Inka Jungle.
Your back will thank you. We recommend leaving your large rigid suitcases and heavy travel luggage in the free storage at your hotel in Cusco, and booking your post-trek return night with them for total convenience. We also offer free storage at our main office as an option.
Since there is no camping on this 2-day route, there are no porters included for personal luggage. During the daily trek, you will carry a light daypack (20 to 30 liters) with your water, layers, and camera. Your overnight clothing and essentials are carried in your daypack.
I joined the 2-day Inca Trail during my trip in South America and it became one of the best memories. The guide, Diego, spoke clear English and made the whole hike feel smooth and organized.
Weather changed fast but the team knew exactly what to do. Very professional people. I appreciate the calm pace and the explanations about the mountains and spirits. Beautiful experience.
